Decatur Sales Spotlight: Sherry Horner

In honor of Mother’s Day, we wanted to spotlight Sherry as we start honoring the women in our Sales Dept. this month. Sherry Horner has been with James Wood Motors in Decatur, for a total of 29 years.

Q: What’s your favorite thing about the James Wood Motors team?
A: It has to be the family atmosphere.

Q: What sets you apart in the car-buying experience?
A: When I’m selling a vehicle, I sell how I want to be sold a vehicle. I don’t even like the word “sell” because I like to help you find the perfect vehicle to meet your needs.

Q: Have you had an unexpected or unique sell?
A: My most recent sell actually. A young couple came in at the same time that my appointment backed out. I stepped up to help this wonderful couple that have been married 8 years. They had made some difficult financial choices when they first got married and it seemed to have followed them leading up to this point. This is when I feel like God truly stepped in and intervened because I was able to get them a beautiful truck that fit their family. In all my years of selling, that had to be the most rewarding sell I ever made. That the part I love the most, being able to help people when they don’t think there’s hope.

Q: Is there a quote that inspires you?
A:

Whatever you do, do it for the right reasons.

Q: What 3 things can’t you live without?
A: My Lord and Savior, My Husband and My Daughter’s – in that order.

Q: Tell me about your family.
A: I’ve been married to my husband for 37 years. We have three grown daughters: Nikki, Murphy and Whitney. I have one son-in-law, he’s married to Whitney. The thing that most people know about my family is that we have a very musical family. My husband is a musician and all three of my daughters. Actually, my son-in-law is as well. My youngest daughter and her husband are actually closing on their first brand new house. We help them move in on Tuesday, so we are all very excited about that.

My husband and middle daughter, Murphy, have a band called “Horner Hill”. Funny story about the name, my husband grew up here in Decatur. His mom and dad had a dairy farm, it was on 730N and there was this big hill that would drop off. Well when him and my daughter were looking for a band name, that just happened. My oldest daughter Nikki and her boyfriend, they also have their own group. They get to travel around and do what they love.

My husband and I also own a child identification business, Ident-A-Kid Service of America, since 1999. We have 80 counties and serve the schools. We go to the schools and help keep our kiddos safe. We help create cards in case any of their kids are missing.
